Sooraj Kumar R asked a question.
Hi everyone,
We want to make sure no one is caught off guard - ShareFile’s WebDAV service will be fully retired on August 11, 2025. If you or anyone on your team is still accessing ShareFile via WebDAV, now is the time to switch to a supported alternative to avoid losing access.
Why is this happening?
WebDAV is a legacy protocol that no longer meets modern security and reliability standards. Retiring it allows us to better protect your data and deliver a more consistent experience.
Supported Alternatives:
- FTPS - for secure, encrypted file transfers
- ShareFile API - for automation and system integrations
- ShareFile Web App - for a fast, modern interface via browser
Need Help?
Please refer to our migration setup guide at https://docs.sharefile.com/en-us/sharefile/learn-more/web-dav-alternative.html#alternative-options-to-webdav-service. For additional guidance, feel free to contact ShareFile Support.
Please also share this update within your organization - especially with anyone who may have automated workflows or mapped drives still connected via WebDAV.
Thanks for being a part of the ShareFile community!
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How do I know if my team is still using WebDAV?
Admins can check usage via account activity logs or reach out to ShareFile Support to confirm if any users have recently connected using WebDAV.
2. Will mapped drives stop working after August 11?
Yes. If mapped drives are configured via WebDAV, they will no longer function once the service is retired. Please migrate those workflows to a supported method such as FTPS or the ShareFile Desktop App.
3. Can I migrate without disrupting users?
Yes! You can transition users gradually. We recommend starting with low-risk users or workflows, and using our migration setup guide to minimize disruption.
4. Is there a replacement for drive mapping?
Yes. You can use the ShareFile Desktop App, which offers similar functionality to mapped drives but with a more modern and secure setup.
5. What if I need help with migration?
If you've already tried the migration setup guide and need further help, please contact ShareFile Support for direct assistance tailored to your setup.
Great ! fantastic guide you are ! Thanks you so much.
