๐ŸŽจ New Color Picker: More presets + custom HEX/RGB colors

Dear Podio Users,

Weโ€™ve upgraded Podioโ€™s color picker wherever you can assign colors (including Category fields and Section Separators) to give you more flexibilityโ€”and a more modern, consistent look across your workspace.

Whatโ€™s new?

โœ… More standard colors: We expanded the preset palette from 16 โ†’ 20, including 4 new colors from the Progress brand palette.

โœ… Custom colors are now supported: Go beyond presets with HEX and RGB color pickersโ€”ideal for matching your brand colors or creating your own visual system.

Please Note:

  1. You category colors selected on your existing apps are expected to retain their existing colors, but there might be slight variations in the shade. If you don't prefer this shade variation, you can always go back to the color picker and pick the preferred color or shade.
  2. The current release is targeted for web. Mobile apps will soon be updated to honour the new color selections.

Why it matters?

Color in Podio isnโ€™t just visual polishโ€”itโ€™s a powerful organizational tool. With more color options, you can:

  • build clearer status/workflow systems (intake โ†’ in progress โ†’ review โ†’ done),
  • improve scan-ability in app views with stronger color segregation (especially when youโ€™re triaging or tracking at speed),
  • keep dashboards, widgets, and reports more readable by making category or status-based insights easier to spot at a glance,
  • and maintain cleaner calendar viewsโ€”since calendar entries can inherit colors from Category fields, helping you quickly distinguish meeting/event types.

This is a small but meaningful step in our ongoing modernization workโ€”and it gives you more control over how your Podio workspace communicates information visually.

We encourage you to try it out and reply with what do you like the most about this new color picker: the new preset colors, the modernized look of the picker, the customer color selection, just the new default color, or something else! We look forward to your feedback.

Cheers,
