We’ve recently updated ShareFile’s SharePoint Online connector to use SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Microsoft’s forward-supported model, ahead of the retirement of the legacy SharePoint add-in in April this year.

To keep everything running smoothly, there’s a one-time approval step for admins, followed by a one-time re-authentication step for users.

What to expect

Admins (one time approval):

Head to the SharePoint Online folder in ShareFile and click Authenticate.

During Microsoft sign-in, approve the app and select “Consent on behalf of the organization.”

That’s it — this provides approval for all users.

Users (one time re-authentication):

After admin approval, users will be prompted to re-authenticate once the next time they access the SharePoint Online folder in their ShareFile accounts.

Why am I seeing a “Need admin approval” message?

This means the account admin hasn’t approved the updated connector yet. Once they complete the approval, access is enabled for everyone.

Does the admin need to approve this for every user?

No. Admins need to approve only once by selecting “Consent on behalf of the organization.” That covers all users.

Do I need to remove and re-add the connector?

No. Nothing needs to be removed or re-added — just the one-time approval and sign-in.

Will anything change after I sign in again?

No changes to how you work. You’ll see the same folders, files, and actions as before.
