Pallabi Patnaik asked a question.
We’re introducing new usage visibility improvements for API keys in Podio and automation actions in Podio workflow automation.
These updates give API key owners and Podio admins managing workflow automation, a clearer insight into actual usage patterns, making it easier to monitor limits, understand activity, and identify where usage is coming from.
What’s New?
API usage visibility on the API Keys page
API key owners can now see usage details directly from Account Settings > API Keys where they already generate and manage API keys.Previously, Podio did not show API usage statistics in the product. With this update, API key owners now have visibility into:
- The request-per-hour rate limit for each API key
- The maximum requests per hour reached for the current month
- The maximum requests per hour reached for the previous month
Podio is an API first product and our customers derive a lot of value from API key integrations. This new telemetry helps API key owners and technical teams better understand how each key is being
used and whether integrations, scripts, or connected apps are approaching their rate limits. Check out our developer documentation to learn more about Podio APIs.
Better Workflow Automation action usage details
For Workflow Automation, Podio already showed an overall action count under the Account Usage section in Account Details page. With this update, Podio admins managing Workflow Automation get a more detailed view of automation action usage, including:
- Total Actions used this month
- Total Actions used last month
- Actions in current hour
- Breakdown of Total Actions by source (click on the monthly counts to view the breakdown)
The source breakdown helps admins understand where automation usage is coming from. For example, if Workflow Automation is configured across multiple Podio organizations, admins can see which organization is contributing to overall action usage. Global flow sources, such as webhook flows and scheduled/date flows, are also shown separately where applicable.
Please note that this view does NOT show usage by each individual flow. It is intended to provide a higher-level breakdown by source, such as organization-specific flows versus global flows, so you know which of your Podio organizations utilizes automation the most.
Why this matters
These improvements give users and partners better operational visibility into their API and automation usage. This is especially useful for accounts with multiple integrations, active API usage, several Podio organizations, or advanced automation setups.
- For API usage, key owners can now monitor rate-limit activity directly where API keys are managed.
- For Workflow Automation, admins can better understand which organizations or global flow types are contributing to action consumption.
